Moon Sweepers Co-op Upgrades: What the Host Shares

Understand whose upgrade matrix a Moon Sweepers crew uses, how purchases are shared, and what the 1.0.3 patch says about older saves.

Whose upgrades apply?

Situation Documented rule from 1.0.3
Joining a host’s world The crew uses the host’s upgrade matrix.
A crewmate buys an upgrade The purchase upgrades the whole crew.
An older save has different purchased levels The highest level already bought is retained.

This rule does not establish how every tool, vehicle or currency balance transfers between separate worlds. An upgrade matrix and an inventory are different questions.

An upgrade appears different: check before spending again

  1. Confirm the host and world. Comparing different hosts’ saves does not test one crew’s shared matrix.
  2. Compare installed versions. The 1.0.3 announcement requires matching builds for that multiplayer version.
  3. Record the upgrade and displayed level on both screens. Distinguish a display mismatch from a purchase failing to affect the crew. Patch notes alone cannot diagnose which occurred.
  4. Avoid buying repeatedly as a troubleshooting method. Report host/client observations and the version if a matched session still disagrees.

Read the save backup checklist before experimenting with an existing world.

Shared building changes are separate

The 1.0.3 patch addresses crew-built splitters and mergers. Version 1.0.4 allows crewmates to add these to another player’s belts and changes mergers to alternate inputs. These are building changes, not proof that an upgrade purchase failed.

If only automation stalls, start with J.O.O.N.A.S and capsule checks. For crew size and platform boundaries, see platforms and co-op.

Sources and scope

Based on developer announcements for 1.0.3 and 1.0.4, checked 27 October 2026. These are documented rules; a live multiplayer purchase was not tested here.
